REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

(Consultancy on Inter-Faculty Resource Sharing, Faculty of Business AHEAD/RA2/ELTALESE/UNI/FAC/CON/12)

 

 

The Government of Sri Lanka has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operation and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services. The services include;

  • Establish an Inter-Faculty Teaching Unit under the FoB with procedures and processes for inter-faculty teaching and learning.
  • Propose inter-faculty minor degree programs to improve the employability of undergraduates.
  • Propose suitable performance evaluation mechanisms on delivery and assessment of inter-faculty minor degree programs.

 

 

The main duties and responsibilities of the Consultancy on Inter-Faculty Resource Sharing will be to:

Establishing an Inter-Faculty Teaching Unit under the FoB

 

Proposing ideal values, mission and goals for Interfaculty Teaching Unit of the FoB

Developing a measurable

and comprehensive framework to promote inter-faculty resource sharing at UoM

Preparing a manual to communicate procedures and processes on interfaculty resource sharing to the relevant stakeholders of UoM

Training the academic staff and academic supportive staff on delivery of cross faculty teaching 

Proposal on upgrading staff facilities relevant for inter-faculty teaching

 

Developing cross-faculty minor degree programs via curriculum development and revision

Identify appropriate discipline minors for major degrees using cross-faculty and industry stakeholder feedback.         

Propose the sets of skills required by the employers to recruit the undergraduates through surveys and interactions with the employers.

Identify the skills supported the undergraduates to be recruited for employment

Develop the curriculum and content for each minor using cross-faculty stakeholder feedback.

Identify relevant experts and guide/ initiate them on Teaching and Learning resources development

Consultancy on implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes of the interfaculty teaching

Facilitate implementation the developed curriculum and content for each minor by providing guidelines the relevant academic staff and academic support staff.

 Develop a mechanism for encouraging undergraduates to get enrolled for minor degrees through awareness programs / workshops and seminars for undergraduates

 

Introduce a mechanism to periodical monitoring and evaluation teaching, learning and assessment on the introduced cross-faculty.

Introduce a mechanism to periodically assess the impact of minor degree programmes on the employability

Provide a set of guidelines to ensure continuation and effectiveness of the minor programmes.

 

 

The duration of the service is for 02 years from the date of signing the contract. The service provider is expected to conduct 54 sessions (three-hours) during the stipulated period.

The Director, Operations Technical Secretariat, AHEAD Project on behalf of the Faculty of Business, University of Moratuwa now invites eligible individuals to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested individuals must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in serving different types of faculties (e.g. Engineering and Business faculties) and inter-faculty teaching and assessment in the higher education sector.
  • Relevant graduate and post graduate qualifications (Preferably a doctoral degree)
  • Extensive experience in program curriculum and content development in business allied areas.
  • Candidates with prior experience in the similar capacity or in a state university will be given priority.

 

Required Professional Competencies:

  • Ability to lead and manage advisory team of academic and academic supportive staff in developing curriculum and course content in a university environment.
  • Ability to craft market oriented cross faculty minor degree programmes for the undergraduates of the university.
  • Ability to initiate and facilitate implementation of processes and procedures in the inter-faculty teaching unit.
  • Ability to analyse and resolve implementation issues effectively.
  • Ability to interact with senior academic and administrative staff in the university and undergraduates.
  • Ability to guide successfully delivery of the module content to the undergraduates.
  • Extensive knowledge on the subject content and the practical applications of the same

 

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the Government of Sri Lanka’s Guidelines on Selection and Employment of Consultants-2007.
