On June 13, 2023, the University of Moratuwa welcomed Dr. Anna Popkova, Deputy Director for International Affairs at the Institute of Environmental Engineering of in Russia. Dr. Popkova's visit will be a significant milestone in strengthening the partnership between the two institutions.
During her visit, Dr. Popkova engaged in a fruitful preliminary discussion with representatives from the University of Moratuwa, including Dr. D.P. Chandrasekara, Deputy Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Mrs. S.M. Egodage, Head of the Department of Chemical & Process Engineering; and Prof. W.D.G. Lannarolle, Director of International Relations. The discussion centered around exploring potential areas of collaboration, such as summer programs, joint publications, and visiting lectures for online courses. Recognizing the potential for fruitful cooperation, both parties agreed to solidify their commitment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Following the initial meeting, Dr. Popkova had a dedicated session with the academic staff of the Department of Chemical & Process Engineering. This specialized gathering allowed for in-depth discussions and knowledge sharing, paving the way for future collaborative projects and research endeavors.
