A team of delegates from the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP), China visited the University of Moratuwa (UoM) on 5th December 2019. The team included Ms. ZHANG Chuan - University Vice President, Mr. YANG Xiu - Vice Director, Innovation Center of Energy and Electric Power, Mr. BI Zhongqin - Vice Dean, Computer Science and Technology College, Ms. XU Xinyan - Vice Director, Academic Affairs Office, Ms. ZHAO Yan - Vice Dean, Electronics and Information Engineering College, and Ms. LUO, Staff member, International Exchange and Cooperation Office.
The two universities have several ongoing collaborations, especially in Electrical Engineering field and the purpose of the visit was to discuss further possible collaborations.
The team of delegates met Prof. K.K.C.K. Perera, Vice Chancellor, UoM, Prof. Gihan Dias, Director, International Relations, UoM, Prof. Sisil Kumarawadu, Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, UoM, Dr. Amal Shehan Perera, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering UoM, Dr. Chandana Gamage, Senior Lecturer, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, UoM, Dr. D.P. Chandima, Senior Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering, UoM, Dr. Ms. W.A. Lidula Nilakshi, Senior Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering, UoM and Dr. V. Logeeshan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering, UoM. Eng. K.G.R.F. Comester, Deputy General Manager, Research and Development, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Sri Lanka was also present at the meeting.
The visit paved the path for initiation of number of collaborations including;
• Student Exchange (Especially Research Students)
• Internship for UoM undergraduates
• Establishment of Smart Building Energy Management, a joint research lab with branches at both SUEP and UoM
• Research Collaborations in Energy Management jointly by CEB, UOM and SUEP
Following the meeting the delegation visited laboratories at the Electrical Engineering Department and met academic members and students.
