A team of delegates from the East China University of Science and Technology, China visited the University of Moratuwa on 9th January 2020 to discuss possible collaborations. The team consisted of Prof. Ms. Luan Weiling, Vice Dean of Graduate School, Prof. Liu Dianhua, Vice Dean of School of Chemical Engineering, Prof. Zhang Lehua, Professor, Department Head, School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Xu Yisheng, Professor, School of Chemical Engineering, Mr. WANG DONG, Director of the Administration Office, College of International Education and Ms. Liu Han, Program Director, College of International Education.
Prof. P.K.S. Mahanama, Deputy-Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa (UoM) chaired the meeting which was attended by Prof. Nalin Wickramaarachchi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Gihan Dias, Director, International Relations, Prof. Shantha Walpalage, Head, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering(CPE) and academic staff of CPE including, Prof. Ajith de Alwis, Dr. Mrs. Sanja Gunawardena and Dr. Thushara Subasinghe.
The two universities agreed to initiate the several collaborations including the following prorams.
• Joint Master’s program on Petroleum processing
• Research collaborations
• Staff Exchange
• Collaborations on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
Following the meeting, the team visited the department of Chemical and Process Engineering (CPE) and had further discussions with the students and the academic staff. Dr. Prasanna Mendis and Mr. Deshan Mendis were also present at the meeting.
Prof. Gihan Dias, Director-International Relations and Dr. Thushara Subasinghe, Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering have visited the ECUST in June last year. Dr. Thushara is working with Dr. Bo Bao from College of Chemical Engineering, ECUST on a project to enhance the reparability of heterogeneous carbon microspheres.
