Professor Udayanga Hemapala was elected as the new dean of the faculty of Engineerng

Eng.(Prof) Udayanga Hemapala graduated in 2004 with a BSc Engineering (First Class Honours) degree in specializing Electrical Engineering.

He obtained his PhD from the University of Genova, Italy in 2009. He joined the University of Moratuwa as a Senior Lecturer in 2010 and prior to being elected as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, he served as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Currently, he is a council member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka and served as the Honorary Secretary to the Council during the 2021/22 session. He is the coordinator of the Smart Grid Research Lab which is recently established with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
