The CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international business competition for undergraduates around the world, designed to bring out the best in the young business leaders of tomorrow. By working together as a team of four to present a business case study, it is a great opportunity to showcase talent in business management.
Despite following courses in technical subjects, undergraduates from University of Moratuwa have always been a force to reckon with at the Country Finals of the competition, and were champions in 2009 and 2010. This year, 74 teams from 14 higher education institutes around the country participated for the 1st round. Out of them, three teams representing UoM: “Paragon Consultants” and “Adroit Consultants” from the Gavel Club and “Alpha Squad” from the Department of Transport and Logistics management, made it to the Finale.
“Paragon Consultants” consisted of Gaveliers Sirimevan Jayasundara, Hasindu Siyambalape, Chamanthi Jayaweera and PiyumiBandaranayake, whereas “Adroit Consultants” consisted of Gaveliers Merl Chandana, Samavath Mallawarachchi, Hasangi Thathsarani and Kaushalya Batawala.
After a tough battle of words and wits held on 16th May at the CIMA Sri Lanka Division, “Paragon Consultants” emerged victorious while “Adroit Consultants” became the first runners-up. The winning team will compete at the global finals in Warsaw, Poland from 3-7 August 2015 where 26 teams from across the globe will represent their region in the battle to become global champions.
