AIESEC is a youth leadership movement and is the largest youth-run organization in the world. It was established in 1948 by a group of young individuals from seven different countries after witnessing the horrors of the second world war and since then, has spanned for membership of thousands in 127 different countries. It provides volunteer and internship opportunities for youth worldwide, as they place trust in the youth to be the change the world needs to achieve peace and fulfillment of humankind's potential.
AIESEC in University of Moratuwa (AIESEC in Colombo South) is one of the oldest AIESEC entities in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1995, when Sri Lanka hosted AIESEC's biggest conference, the International Congress. Since then, AIESEC in University of Moratuwa has always been in the top ranks of AIESEC, not only in the country but also in the world.
In the AIESEC Asia Pacific Conference 2018 hosted by AIESEC in Sri Lanka, AIESEC in University of Moratuwa was awarded the Biggest, Loudest, and the Best Local Committee award over all the other entities in the Asia Pacific region.
Moreover, at the 2020 National Awards Night of AIESEC in Sri Lanka, AIESEC in University of Moratuwa was awarded the awards for Excellence in Incoming Global Volunteer, Excellence in Incoming Global Talent, Excellence in Operational Sustainability, and the Most Outstanding Local Committee for its performance during the 19/20 term, which was led by Mr. Sachira Karunasena from the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication and his team.
AIESEC in University of Moratuwa has been a cornerstone in the process of building young leaders all over the world. Our members and exchange participants have been successful in a plethora of fields and some have even gone to be a part of AIESEC International and it will continue to do so in years to come.
