40TH GENERAL CONVOCATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MORATUWA

The 40th General Convocation of University of Moratuwa (UoM)  was held on 3rd and 4th September 2019  with all its glory and pride at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in four sessions. The Chancellor of the University, Vidya Jyothi Professor Emeritus KKYW Perera, presided the Convocation Ceremony. It was attended by the graduands with their parents, distinguished invitees, as well as the academic and administrative staff of the University. 

A total of 2910 competent graduands with remarkable potential to inspire and challenge the status quo were conferred degrees in their respective fields such as engineering, architecture, and Information Technology, with over 25% of them  at post graduate level including 8 graduands receiving PhDs.

Addressing the graduands,  Vidya Jyothi Professor Emeritus K.K.Y.W. Perera, the Chancellor of the University, explained  that irrespective of the field one is employed, it is better to exercise both ‘guna’ (inner goodness) and ‘nana’ (knowledge) simultaneously. He further elaborated that selecting an employment which is beneficial for both oneself and others, one can achieve  long term satisfaction and contentment.

University of Moratuwa graduates are in high demand among both the state sector and private sector employers. In fact, most of the study programmes have recorded almost zero unemployment within three months after graduation.
