Dr. Niles Perera of the Department of Transport & Logistics Management was awarded a travel grant of 2090 US Dollars by the International Institute of Forecasters to attend the 42nd International Symposium on Forecasting held in Oxford, United Kingdom. Dr. Perera was a resource person/organizer of some of the sessions conducted during the symposium targeting early career forecasters and also presented the research titled “Effects of multiple adjustments in supply chain forecasting on forest accuracy.” This paper was coauthored with Ms. Banusha Aruchunarasa (University of Jaffna) and Prof. Dilek Önkal stemming out of the collaboration created through the Center for Supply Chain, Operations and Logistics Optimization (SCOLO), University of Moratuwa.

Mr. Dilina Kosgoda’s (Lecturer – Department of Transport & Logistics Management) paper titled “Effective Goal Framing for Managers Using Inventory Management Systems” was presented at the 82nd Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting in Seattle, USA on 8th August 2022. Dr. Niles Perera of the same department and Prof. John Aloysius of the University of Arkansas, USA were coauthors of this paper through the collaboration established under the Center for Supply Chain, Operations and Logistics Optimization (SCOLO), University of Moratuwa. This paper stems from Mr. Kosgoda’s undergraduate research. The paper was nominated for the best student paper award of the Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) division of the 82nd AOM Annual Meeting alongside papers coming out of PhD projects from Germany, Switzerland, and USA. This is a remarkable achievement considering the very low acceptance level and the rigorous evaluation process adhered to by the conference organizers.
