The annual Awards Ceremony of the University of Moratuwa will be held on September 01, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. onwards at the Faculty of Engineering Multi-purpose Auditorium. The Ceremony, which celebrates excellence within the University community will be held under the esteemed patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor N.D. Gunawardena.
At this event, 6 distinguished retired academic staff members will be conferred the title of “Emeritus Professor” in appreciation of their eminent academic achievements and long-standing contributions to teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, institutional development and national and international advancement.
The highlight of the event will be the recognition of outstanding research performances during the years 2023 and 2024 by the academic staff of the University. A total of 275 awards will be presented in three categories; the Vice Chancellor’s award, Outstanding Awards with Distinction and Outstanding Awards.
The ceremony will also celebrate the exceptional academic achievements of 101 students, comprising 90 students from the Faculty of Engineering and 11 from the Faculty of Architecture. A total of 127 awards will be presented to these students in recognition of exceptional academic performances in their respective fields of study.
