Four members of the Intelligent Service Robotics Group of the Department of Electrical Engineering have presented research papers at 27th IEEE International Conference on Robot and Human Interactive Communication (RO-MAN) held from Aug 27-31, Nanjing and Tai'an, China. They are working on development of MIRob (Moratuwa Intelligent Robot), an Intelligent service robot for domestic environments under the Supervision of Dr. Buddhika Jayasekara. It is commendable that the researchers of the Department of Electrical Engineering were able to present their work at this premier forum of the Human - Robot Interaction (HRI) field. These research were funded by the Senate Research Grants No: SRC/CAP/2017/03 and SRC/LT/2018/20.

This is the first PhD of the intelligent service robotics group, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa. It is commendable that you have achieved more than typical international level of research outcome in Robotics field with an exceptional list of publications including flagship conferences like IEEE ICRA and IROS. Furthermore, we would like to thank you for the hard work in establishing state of art facilities in service robotics with the funding from SRC Capital grants and guiding the junior students of service robotics group of the Department during last four years.
