The Transportation Engineering Division (TED) of the Department of Civil Engineering University of Moratuwa has organized many international conferences for the past decade and International Conference on Highway Engineering and Transportation Systems (ICAHETS) is the flagship international conference of the TED. ICAHETS is a bi-annual conference and the first conference was held in 2011 and subsequently held in 2013, 2015 and 2017. The years when ICAHETS was not held, TED has hosted other international conferences such as 9th Asia Pacific Conference on Transportation and the Environment in 2014, and in the year 2021, the 12^th International Conference on Road and Airfield Pavement Technology will be hosted by the TED. Also, in the year 2012, an Industry Conference was organised by the TED and in the year 2018 Graduate Students Colloquium on Transport Research was held as an international event.

The prime objective of these conferences is to create a platform for researchers in the transportation field to build up their research career and to share their research findings with the international community. Practitioners, graduate researchers, and academics including several international experts in the areas of Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Planning are the participants for these international events. In the past, there were participants from all over the world, mainly the academics including Editors of top tier journals in the area of transportation engineering helping the TED to maintain the ICAHETS and other international conferences at the top level. These events offer a great opportunity to expand research collaborations and also been the access point for students to find post-graduate opportunities at reputed universities in the world

The Department Industry Consultative Board (DICB) meeting was held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, on 9^th February 2022 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. DICB meeting aims to obtain insights from the industry on the performance of the graduates produced by the department. The industry Engineers and the department Academics discussed how best to improve students to become best of the class Engineers.
