In Search of Innovators to Commemorate Golden Jubilee of University of Moratuwa

Library, University of Moratuwa in collaboration with several academic staff members attached to four faculties organized three awareness progrmmes to enhance the knowledge and expertise on innovations and inventions focusing on students, teachers, and principals of Moratuwa Education Division, Piliyandala Education Zone.

Research Support Services for Piliyandala Education Zone

In commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of University of Moratuwa, Library organized an eight-week programme to make awareness on research support services for Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and Teacher-Trainers in Piliyandala Education Zone. Dr. (Mrs.) Nayani Gunaeardena, Mr. Nishan Punchihewa and Mrs. Thushari Seneviratne, Senior Assistant Librarians of University of Moratuwa Library serve as resource persons. Inauguration of this programme took place on 23rd September, 2022. About 30 participants attended the programme.

“Understanding the Reality and Living & Working Happily”

A motivational program on ““Understanding the Reality and Living & Working Happily” was conducted by Dr. Ranil Sugathadasa, Senior Lecturer from Transport & Logistics Management of Faculty of Engineering for the library staff on 22nd March 2022. During the one-hour session, he presented several themes useful for the day to day life such as; The beauty of Self Love, Knowing how to love yourself,

Academic Collaboration for Library Outreach Activities

Library Outreach division successfully completed another project/program for the students of Bodhiraja Vidyalaya and their parents on a useful and current topic. On 9th July special programme focusing on “Scholarship and aftermath” was held at the school premises underthe guidance of the Librarian, Mrs. Ruvini Kodikara. Three academic staff members of Faculty of Business facilitated the programme. Resource persons were Mr. Shenal Rajakarunanayake,  Mrs. Nawodi Somasiri from Department of Industrial Management and Mrs. Tolusha Yapa from Department of Management of Technology.

Digital Wall launched at the Library,University of Moratuwa

The British Council launched the  Digital Wall at the Library of the University of Moratuwa on 22nd February, 2022.  Ms. Maarya Rehman, Country Director- British Council and Senior Professor N D Gunawardena - Vice Chancellor ceremoniously unveiled the Board, amidst other distinguished invitees and  staff members of the library.  Ms. Shiroma, Manager, Libary and Information Science, British Council, demonstrated how to access the books, podcasts, reports etc by scanning the QR codes.

Digital Wall launched

Staff Development Programme on Research Support Activities

In order to expand the research support services, Library, University of Moratuwa commenced a Staff Development Programme. Two guest lectures were conducted on 9th December, 2020 in the Library Auditorium. Dr. (Eng.) Ranil Shanaka Sugathadasa, Senior Lecturer, Department of Transport and Logistics Management and the Founder of TheMotivator conducted a session on “The Miracle Power of Little Bit : Bringing Research Support Activities of UoM Library to Next Level.” Dr.

A motivational speech on "How to succeed the Grade 5 Scholarship Exam"

A motivational speech on "How to succeed the Grade 5 scholarship exam" was conducted by Dr. Ranil Sugathadasa, Senior Lecturer from Transport & Logistics Management, Faculty of Engineering at Bodhiraja Vidayalaya katubedda Moratuwa. The Beneficiaries were the grade 5 students of Bodhiraja Vidayalaya,Katubedda and Lanka Sabha Vidayalaya, Moratumulla. The event was conducted by the Outreach services division of Library,University of Moratuwa.

National Reading Month Celebrations

Along with the commemoration of “National Reading Month”, Library organized two programs to enhance reading skills of students in suburban schools on 8th and 9th of October, 2018. Grade 10 students of Rawathawatte Methodist School and A/L students of Methodist High School, Puwakaramba participated in these programs. While welcoming the participants, Mrs. Ruvini Kodikara, Librarian, University of Moratuwa highlighted the community services conducted by the Outreach Services Division since 2013.

National Reading Month

Sports Day at WP/PIL/ Bodhiraja Vidyalaya

Library in collaboration with Physical Education Division, University of Moratuwa organized a “Sports Day” for students of WP/PIL/Bodhiraja Vidyalaya to mark World Children’s Day on 1st October, 2018. Mr. Chanuka de Silva and Mr. Dayan Sendanayake of Physical Education Division conducted the activities with great enthusiasm. Library also celebrated the 5th anniversary of community outreach at WP/PIL/Bodhiraja Vidyalaya.
