Services

The Library, University of Moratuwa has offered different kinds of services to fulfill the needs of its user community.

Inter-Library Loan Service

This service may be used by faculty, post-graduate students, and undergraduate students and authorized research personnel of the University of Moratuwa. Requests for inter-library loan should be submitted to the Librarian through a letter by the Head of the Department or the course coordinator. Delivery time usually takes one day to two weeks depending on the location of the library where the item is being held. The loan period depends on the regulations of the library, which lends the material, but most libraries lend materials for two weeks from date the of issue.

Although there is no charge for this service from the user the library spends a considerable amount of money for this service. Please check the UOM catalogue before submitting your requests for interlibrary loan. Contact the Issue Counter staff if you require this service.

Document Supply Service

The Consortium of Sri Lankan Academic Libraries (CONSAL) which is funded by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka has established a Centralized Document Supply Service for the 15 State universities of Sri Lanka with collaboration of British Library Document Supply Service (BLDSS). If you are looking for any journal article or a book chapter which is not available in your library, please complete the Article Request Form as instructed and hand over to the librarian or library staff of University of Moratuwa.

Using Other Libraries

All students and staff may use the facilities of other University Libraries for any research work. A letter of introduction from the Head of the Department approved by the Librarian, UoML to the respective Librarian is required to use such facilities. Contact the Issue Counter staff if you require this service or meet the librarian.

New Addition Group

This is a complementary current awareness service provided through email by the Library, University of Moratuwa, to announce recently added items.

Outreach Services

Library, University of Moratuwa is a knowledge hub filled with physical resources, human resources and technology that other may not have ready access. As a community service, library decided to share these resources on voluntary basis among some groups such as Preschools (University Day Care Centre), Schools and public libraries, Research institutions, and Other government institutions.
