Kids love butterflies. Pictures of butterflies in books are also attractive. Third session of "Books and Animals" on Friday, 27th June talked about these loving creatures. Mrs. Devika Thalawatta was the facilitator. Mr. Melro Mendis, Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Manula Jayathilaka provided the technical assistance.
Sea and sea creatures are fascinating. Kids love sea. Therefore, Mr. Roshan Fernando taught many facts about the sea to kids studying at Sumudu Preschool on 12th September, 2014. Mr. Manjula Jayathilake provided the technical assistance. Further language learning activities were carried out as usual.
A puzzle will build three basic skills in children ; Physical skills, Cognitive skills, Emotional skills. On 3rd October, Ms. Chethani Lakmali and Mr. Thushara Bandaranayake got together to combine puzzles and drawing. Mr. Roshan Fernando, Mr. Sameera Perera and Mr. Susantha provided the technical assistance.

On 17th October, 2014, Mrs. Chandani Kalupahana tried to explain about means and modes of communication to kids in a very simple way. Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Sameera Perera provided the technical assistance.
Mrs. Umanga Karunaratne volunteered to collect many facts about soil for kids. Using a PowerPoint presentation she explained types of soil, uses of soil etc. Further, kids were educated about protecting soil too. Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Sameera Perera provided the technical assistance.
Mr. Thushara Bandaranayake and Mr. Sameera Perera helped to build clay sculptures on 3rd November, 2014. Kids were very keen to build what they want . The activity helped them to improve motor skills and creative ability.
Kids were educated about insects by Mrs. Thushari M. Seneviratne on Friday, 7th November, 2014. Video clips, cartoons as well as preserved samples were used. Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Sameera Perera provided the technical assistance.
Ms. Chethani Lakmali and Mr. Thushara Bandaranayake guided students to use different colours to fill different shapes following a Collage like technique on 13th November, 2014. Mr. Roshan Fernando, Mr. Sameera Perera and Mr. Jayantha provided the technical assistance.
Pre-Childhood Development Programme was conducted by Mrs. Nayani Gunawardana to celebrate the Universal Children’s Day in Sumudu Preschool on Tuesday, 1st October, 2013.. This special programme was based on their ambitions and titled as “Adath apei, Hetath apei”. Mrs. Indu Malagoda and Mr. Eranga Wickrama backed the fun-filled activities while Mr. Melro Shamendra, Mr. Roshan Fernando and Chamara Herath provided the technical assistance with the staff of Centre for Instructional Technologies (CIT), University of Moratuwa.
