Outreach Services Division of Library, University of Moratuwa in collaboration with "Janasetha Kala Ketha" Public Library Moratuwa organized an awareness programme about the Public Library Systems of Moratuwa for students of Bodhiraja Vidyalaya and their parents on Thursday 8th October, 2015.
"Janasetha Kala Ketha" Public Library managed under Moratuwa Municipal Council has 10 branch libraries and a collection of about 50,000 library materials. With 03 Librarians, 12 Library Para-Professionals and 6 Supportive Staff Members, Moratuwa Public Library is offering variety of services for children as well as community.
In this awareness programme, students went through a Library tour. They enjoyed seeing the library collection for Children. Meanwhile parents mostly mothers took keen interest to become library members. Out of 113 students, only two students have had the library membership of "Janasetha Kala Ketha"
Librarian, University of Moratuwa and staff members of Outreach Services Division of the Library, Mr. S. Mahindalal Principal, Bodhiraja Vidyalaya and teachers also participated in the programme. Mrs. N.A.H.K. Karunaratne Chartered Librarian and staff of "Janasetha Kala Ketha" conducted the programme.
