Programs in Conservation:

Two post graduate programs are offered under Architectural Conservation; M. Sc. in Architectural Conservation of Monuments & Sites and a Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Conservation of Monuments & Sites.


 

M. Sc. in Architectural Conservation of Monuments & Sites (ACOMAS)

This is a two year part time postgraduate programme. The students take 40 credit theory modules during the first year.

The main modules cover subject areas such as;
• Philosophy & Principals in Heritage Conservation
• Documentation in Conservation
• Urban Conservation
• Geology in Conservation
• Iconography 
• Painting Conservation
• Artifact & Paper Conservation

During the second year the students have to write a Dissertation and a report on a Conservation Project to obtain the M.Sc. in Architectural Conservation of Monuments and Sites.

M.Sc in Architectural Conservation of Monument and Sites :  Two Years 
Same curriculum as for the Postgraduate Diploma plus a Conservation Project and a Dissertation.


 

Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Conservation of Monuments & Sites (ACOMAS)

The students are eligible to receive PG Diploma at the succesfull completion of the first year of the above program.

Postgraduate Diploma : One Year 
Taught courses plus studio work, assignments, seminars and field visits. All academic work will normally be conducted on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays.


 

Eligibility

Candidates for these two programs are drawn from wide field of expertise;Candidates for these two programs are drawn from wide field of expertise;

Generally a 5 years Degree course in Architecture, recognized by the Faculty of Architecture and approved by the Senate.

Or one of the following Degrees or a similar degree from a recognized University with a minimum of one year relevant experience recognized by the Faculty of Architecture after obtaining the Degree.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Bachelor of Arts with Archaeology as a subject
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts
  • B.Sc. (Built Environment)
  • B.Sc. (Quantity Surveying)
  • B.Sc. (Town & Country Planning)

Or the Corporate membership of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects and minimum of 01 year relevant experience after obtaining the membership.

Or the Corporate membership of the Institute of Town Planners Sri Lanka and minimum of 01 year relevant experience after obtaining the membership.
