The Faculty of Information Technology is entrusted with offering degree programs in the field of Information Technology. The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies is one of the three departments of the faculty that contribute to the successful delivery of these programs by providing essential interdisciplinary knowledge and skills that complement technical learning.
The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies is committed to developing well rounded Information Technology professionals through carefully designed course modules in consumer centered solution designing, product management, financial resource management, educational technology, and behavioral science. Specially, the learning experience of behavioral science including behavioral genetics and neuroscience are complemented and facilitated through dedicated laboratory facilities that enable practical experimentation and applied insight.
The Department’s academic offerings are structured around main pillars, Consumer Solutions and Business Strategy. These pillars reflect the realities of the modern IT industry, where technology solutions must be both user focused and strategically sound. The Consumer Solutions pillar covers areas such as Consumer Solutions Designing and Management, Cognitive Psychology of Consumer Decisions, Marketing Management, Product Management, Applied Market Research Methods, and Business Architecture Modelling. This pillar enables undergraduates to understand user needs, market behavior, and product lifecycles, allowing them to contribute effectively to the design and management of digital solutions. The Business Strategy pillar includes Strategic Management, Financial Analysis and Management, Management Science, Risk and Portfolio Management, Business Scenario Planning, and Business Change and Process Management. Through this pillar, undergraduates develop analytical, strategic, and decision-making skills required in technology driven organizations.
The Department gives special attention to developing Language and communication skills that are essential for acquiring knowledge, sharing ideas among undergraduates ensuring that they can communicate confidently and professionally in managerial and corporate settings.
The department emphasizes the importance of linking consumer insights with system and business architecture to facilitate the development of IT solutions that deliver real value to the users while promoting project-based approach. Through engaging in projects which interact with the Information Technology industry, undergraduates are exposed to the practical applications of theoretical knowledge, given the opportunity to showcase their skills to prospective employers in the field.
