- ADB-Sejong University on a fact finding mission to UOM
Gi Soon Song, Senior Social Development Specialist attached to the Human and Social Development Division of the South Asia Development of the Asian Development Bank and Professor Hee Seung Yang of the Graduate School of Business, Sejong University, Korea were on a mission to the University of Moratuwa on 8th of November 2012. During their meeting with a team of senior academics of the university led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Rahula Attalage, they expressed their keenness in areas of entrepreneurial development through promotion of innovative research and development particularly among the engineering students, and on the contribution made to country’s development.
- Hong Kong University keen on improving relations with UOM
Senior Advisor to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong Professor John A Spinks paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa on 6th November 2012. Professor Spinks visit focused mainly on enhancing relations with the University of Moratuwa in the field of engineering due to progress made by the University of Moratuwa from quality assurance accreditation aspects. “ Both the University of Hong Kong and the University of Moratuwa are similar from quality assurance perspective and moving successfully in the University Grants Commission Quality assurance framework completing the three cycles namely the check list, work programmes and enhancement process,’ Professor Spinks said.
Praising the current rate of engineering student rate of employment of the University of Moratuwa which stands at 97 percent compared to 99.7 percent of the University of Hong Kong that world’s leading universities like Oxford and Cambridge have not been able to achieve.
- Delegation from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB)
A team of distinguished delegates from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) comprised of Mr. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Dean/International Relations, Prof. Mohan Krishnamoorthy, CEO, IITB-Monash Research Academic and Dr. Jayantha Rajapakse, Course Director/MBIS Programme visited University of Moratuwa in view of exploring the possibilities of establishing academic and research collaboration between the two institutes.

A team of distinguished delegates from Poznan University of Technology, Poland comprised of Prof. Tomasz Lodygowski, Prof. Jerzy Rakowski, Director, Structural Institute of Engineering and Dr. Maciej Klosak, Vice-President, City Council of Ostrow Wielkopolski visited University of Moratuwa in view of exploring the possibilities of establishing academic and research collaboration between the two institutes.

- Panama’s Ambassador commends UOM’s standards
His Excellency Aram B Cisneros, the newly appointed Ambassador of Panama in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, who called on the Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor AR Attalage at the University of Moratuwa on August 23rd 2012, said, “the University of Moratuwa (UOM) is within the first-four educational institutions that have earned a reputation and recognition for producing professional seafarers with all necessary training, skills including proficiency in English, and thus the improving relations between Panama and UOM is a win-win situation for both parties”.
