Welcome to the University of Moratuwa. This is a basic introduction to the Information Systems in UoM for a new user. This article does not contain all the information and the purpose of this article is to give you a brief introduction to get you started as a new user.
UoM Account
- Once CITeS creates the UoM staff account, you will receive a temporary password via an SMS to the given mobile number.
- The first part of your email address will serve as your username on the new account. For instance, your username will be ABC if the email address is ABC@uom.lk
- Login to LearnOrg by entering the username and the temporary password received via SMS.
- Once you log in, you will be redirected to a password change page.
- Enter your temporary password for the current password and set a new password for your account according to the policy.
- We use single sign-on (SSO) in UoM. This means that the same UoM credentials are used to login into other Information Systems.
- Please note that you will not be able to log in to any other systems unless you change your initial password.
- Keeping Account information up to date is the responsibility of the user. Failing to do so will create complications in day-to-day activities.
IT Support
- You can always visit the University Of Moratuwa Staff Portal to find staff-related information, including level-one IT support.
- Your first point of contact for IT-related matters is your department or division's IT support personnel. They will escalate the issue to CITeS if needed.
- If you need any other assistance you can open a ticket using our IT Helpdesk.
Dos and Don'ts
- Always use the @uom.lk email to communicate official matters to others.
- Do not respond to official internal emails from senders other than having an @uom.lk email. It could be a spam email.
- It's highly recommended to change your password from time to time according to the IT Policy
- UoM IT-related services and users always need to comply with UoM IT Policies.
