Introduction

Harsha Abeykoon received his B.Sc Honours degree in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering , University of Moratuwa in 2002. Immediately after the graduation, he was recruited as a graduate trainee in the Maharaja group. During his one year training period he has been trained in five factories and one media organization. successfully completing his training period, he was appointed as the Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in the Sirasa TV.

In the year 2003, he received the Mombukagakusho scholarship from the Japanese government to pursue higher studies in the Keio University ,Yokohama, Japan. He received his Msc in 2005 in the field of mobile robotics and he earned his PhD in 2008 specializing bilateral control for robot assisted surgery. From April 2009, he has been working in the department of Electrical Engineering as a Senior Lecturer. Among his wide research interests in robotics bilateral control, motion control, active vibration suppression and haptics are the main focus areas. He enjoys spending most of his time for research with his undergraduate and postgraduate students.
