COURSE OBJECTIVES
Python is a versatile programming language extensively used in backend web development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and scientific computing, making it crucial for IT careers. The PCAP: Programming Essentials in Python course equips beginners with the skills to design, write, debug, and execute Python programs, starting from foundational concepts to solving complex problems. It covers essential programming concepts like conditional execution, loops, syntax, semantics, and object-oriented programming. Completion of the course ensures proficiency in Python 3 and prepares students for further studies or a career in development. Graduates will possess skills such as understanding computer operations, problem-solving through algorithms, grasping the programmer's role in software development, and translating real-world issues into computable problems.
For every student who does well in the course, a voucher for a discount will be offered to finish the PCAP: Programming Essentials career certificate. This is not something that UoM can manage. The Cisco Networking Academy USA is in charge of it.

Course Outline
Python Essentials Part 1: Basics
- Introduction to Python and computer programming.
- Data types, variables, basic input-output operations, basic operators.
- Boolean values, conditional execution, loops, lists and list processing, logical and bitwise operations
- Functions, tuples, dictionaries, and data processing
Python Essentials Part 2: Intermediate
- Modules, Packages and PIP.
- Strings, String and List Methods, Exceptions.
- Object-Oriented Programming.
- Miscellaneous.
