Master of Smart Power Systems

The Master of Smart Power Systems course offers a comprehensive approach, addressing technical, managerial, and environmental aspects to cultivate a holistic understanding of the power industry. It prepares professionals for the challenges of a sustainable future, emphasizing AI applications, renewable integration, and smart power technologies. Eligibility Criteria

1. The Degree of Bachelor of the Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa in Electrical Engineering;
   OR
2. Any other Engineering Degree of at least four years duration in a relevant field of specialization, as may be approved by the Senate;
   OR
3. Any recognized category of membership of a recognized Professional Institute in a relevant field, obtained through an academic route, with a minimum of one year of post-qualifying relevant experience obtained after the membership, as approved by the Senate.Programs for Electrical Power and Energy Sector:

Master of Building Electrical Systems

The Master of Building Electrical Systems course offers a specialized focus on both technical and maintenance aspects within electrical installations. It equips professionals with the necessary capabilities for designing and maintaining electrical systems in buildings, encompassing areas such as lighting, lightning protection, and earthing. By providing a comprehensive understanding of these critical elements, the program prepares graduates to effectively manage the complexities of building electrical systems. Furthermore, the curriculum is carefully crafted to align with global trends, emphasizing the importance of responsible management practices in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of building electrical systems. Through this program, professionals gain the expertise and skills needed to meet the evolving demands of the industry while contributing to the advancement of responsible electrical system management.

Master of Intelligent & Automation Systems

The Master of Intelligent and Automation Systems course provides a comprehensive exploration of the technical aspects inherent in the intelligent integration prevalent in today's automation industry. It equips professionals with the skills necessary for the design and maintenance of intelligent and integrated automated systems, encompassing components such as sensors, actuators, controllers, and intelligent functions. Through a carefully crafted curriculum, students are prepared to navigate the complexities of modern automation, staying abreast of global trends and advancements, particularly in the AI applications. By emphasizing both theoretical foundations and practical applications, graduates of this program emerge with the expertise to contribute meaningfully to the design, implementation, and maintenance of cutting-edge automation systems, thereby meeting the evolving demands of the industry and driving innovation forward. Details are given below.

All lectures, practical sessions, presentations, industrial visits, and examinations will normally be conducted on weekends. Those candidates who successfully complete the credit requirement  including the project will be awarded the Degree of Master of Intelligent and Automation Systems. 

Eligibility Criteria:

1. The Degree of Bachelor of the Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa specializing in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics/Computer Engineering; or
2. Any other engineering degree of at least four years duration, from a recognised University, in a relevant field as may be approved by the Senate; or
3. Any Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree of at least four years duration, from a recognised University, in a relevant field as may be approved by the Senate; or
4. A degree in Engineering, Technology or Science of at least three years duration from a recognized university in a relevant field of specialization with a minimum of one year of recognized appropriate experience obtained after the degree AND a Postgraduate Certificate in Industrial Automation or in an equivalent field, as may be approved by the Senate; or
5. Any recognized category of membership of a recognized Professional Institute, obtained through an academic route, with a minimum of one year of recognized appropriate experience obtained after the membership, as may be approved by the Senate.
